travel resources
BootsnAll
We love the BootsnAll Community forums and "Ask an
Insider," where you can get much more information than you
would typically find about a place online.
EuroCheapo
Their motto says it all:
"We believe that budget travel should be about traveling
simply and creatively, interacting with places and cultures
without spending too much." To this end, their editors
review budget hotels throughout Europe based on personal
(and completely impartial) visits. This is one of the
most useful online resources for the independent budget
traveler.
Frommers
Trip ideas and destination
guides.
GapYear.com
A comprehensive site offering ideas and resources for a year
of travel and adventure. We particularly like the
country profiles, offering region-specific resources to find
work, volunteer opportunities, or just to learn more about
where you want to go.
Slow Travel
An off-beat site helping the independent traveler find
vacation rentals. Get to know your area in depth by
renting a farm or a cottage for a week or two rather than
staying in a hotel for a couple of nights.
Transitions Abroad
While it might belong in the magazine category, we think
Transitions Abroad is primarily a resource for those wanting
to travel, work, intern, or study abroad. You'll find
tons of informative articles in both the online and the print
edition of this magazine.
Travel Notes
Travel information, articles, and destination guides.
Trivago
A community-style site designed to allow users from around the
world to share there opinions on everything from museums to
hotels.
Virtual Tourist
A huge network of travelers from around the world
contribute to this site. Look up your destination and
read real people's tips and favorites. Set up your own
account to offer your own tips or to create travelogues for
your friends. |
