About Destination Elsewhere
Destination Elsewhere
began as an idea between two friends back in 2001. In many
ways it developed from a frustration with travel magazines that
merely feature "how-to" destination guides. Our love of travel
and our passion for the written word combined to form a concept.
Destination Elsewhere celebrates the desire to see the world and to
convey that experience through the powerful mediums of writing and
photography.
Over the last five
years Destination Elsewhere has evolved from a small ezine to a
fully-fledged online magazine. In fact, we like to think it
offers one of the best travel narrative resources on the web: a
place for readers and writers and lovers of travel to converge.
Our aim is to create a place of inspiration for travel and culture.
In the fall of 2006
Destination Elsewhere received another facelift: a new design and
the addition of the Destination Elsewhere Directory and the
Destination Elsewhere Editors' (B)log. We hope that these new
additions to the magazine will provide an even better experience for
our readers.
About the
Editors
You could say we're
an international team: one Brit and one American working across the
Atlantic to
bring you Destination Elsewhere. Anna Gibson (the Brit) is
usually the one behind the Web design, while Lori Brister (the
American) can usually be found
trawling through
our submissions and working on
the Armchair
Travel section. Our own travels have usually been together
in a blue Bug speeding around Europe or criss-crossing the Atlantic
(without the Beetle!) We studied together in Mississippi and
France before completing Master's degrees in English from the
University of Exeter in England.
